After I become a member, where do I start?
As a new Toastmaster, you will receive a "Starter Kit" from your V.P. of Education at your local club. The kit includes the Communication & Leadership Manual - an effective compilation of 10 speech projects that will start you on your journey to becoming a skilled public speaker. Once you have completed all 10 speeches you will be awarded the title of "Competent Communicator" (CC) and will have the opportunity to continue in even more challenging and rewarding directions within Toastmasters.

So what's after the Communication & Leadership program?
Upon completion of the basic Communication & Leadership program, you will move on to the Advanced Communication & Leadership program. You can then choose from a variety of manuals to continue your skill development.
You will have the option of pursuing the business-oriented route, the Leadership Track, with topics such as 'Speeches by Management' and 'Technical Presentations', or you can take the Communication Track and enjoy (to name a few) the 'Humourous Speeches' manual and 'Speeches for Special Occasions'. Some Toastmasters work through both routes simultaneously.
The range of topics is almost endless... the entertainment continuous.
Each path has specific requirements that must be met, the most obvious of which is completing a number of Advanced Manuals. All of the manuals have been time-tested and proven by Toastmasters International to help you attain mastery in many diverse areas of public speaking.
Upon meeting the requirements for the Leadership path, you will receive your "Advanced Leader Silver" (ALS) certification. Upon completing all levels of the Communication path, you will receive your "Advanced Communicator - Gold" (ACG) certification. Both of these are required to move on to attaining the title of "Distinguished Toastmaster" (DTM)
